Summary:The system of the new Hungarian media regulations takes into consideration the circumstances ensuing from technological development. The Act CIV of 2010 on the freedom of the press and the fundamental rules on media content, and the Act CLXXXV of 2010 on media services and mass media provide a system which takes into account new technologies appeared in the transmission of media services and press products. In accordance with the AVMS Directive, the new Hungarian media regulations contain provisions for all (linear and non-linear) media services and for all types of press products (printed and internet press). This essay provides a comprehensive analysis and explanation of the elements of the definitions given for the two basic categories (media services and press products), since these elements play key role in the understanding of the whole system of regulations.
