A question, however, remains whether this creditable achievement means that the hungarian copyright regulation is effective? Moreover, when can we say that a copyright regulation is effective? This essay is intended to highlight the difficulties of the copyright area in the digital age, focusing especially on the original role of copyright law and the economic rights of authors. Although paying remuneration for authors is definitely not the only way to express our appreciation, but an effective copyright regulation is capable to ensure, beside moral recognition of authors, a suitable share to authors from the profit generated by their creations. We cannot forget about this primary aim of copyright law, and we have to understand that “accepting money” for the use of the creations may not be a reason to “shame”. Even if the creative sector is blooming, the enforceability of copyright law is far from being perfect. There are several reasons for this, but the parties concerned evaluate the actual situation in completely different ways. We may feel that copyright shows its different faces to authors, users and other parties – while there is one single point they can agree: copyright regulation is not effective. the problem is that the parties concerned want different ways of improvement, but none of them can provide real and up-to-date solution.
